One of the few UK DJs to be on the Motown freebies list, Paul Gray worked in the California Ballroom in Dunstable on Friday and Saturday nights as well as the Devil's Den/Didoz.

He was one the stalwarts of the Cali in the early to mid 70s and helped the place gain the nickname Soul City.

Paul was also a regular DJ at Aquarius Night Club, The Greyhound in Dunstable, Truman Gateway, Disc-a-dine and Drill Hall in Luton. At the Truman Gateway he had to compete with appearances from Radio One DJs, topless dancers and drag acts.

He gave up the DJ scene in 1978, claiming he was becoming dangerous from too many late nights!

In 2002, the website dedicated to The California Ballroom came on-line which brought him and his trusty 45s back to the music business in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire. He now is part of The California Ballroom Roadshow team in Bedford and plays many gigs in Northampton for Northern Soul events.

Danny Coleman has said, "My cousin gave me, 'Led Zeppelin IV' for my twelfth birthday and it literally changed my life forever." The receipt of that record was the impetus behind a career in music; eventually leading him to become a published entertainment journalist and radio personality.

Faced with having to re-invent himself after several difficult life events including an unexpected severe back injury, he returned to the one constant in his life: music.

It has been said that, "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" and 'Rock On Radio' is proof positive of that statement. Left unemployed and with his back to the wall he returned to his past after answering an ad which read, "Radio show hosts/ideas wanted" which had been posted by an AM station in South Central NJ. Coleman pitched the idea of giving unsigned indie artists a platform to be heard and "Rock On Radio" was born.

From the program sprung a journalism career and a resurgence in gigs as well as YouTube programs, "One More with Danny Coleman" and "What's Next? w/ Danny Coleman and Maryann Castello."

Veteran radio presenter of over 30 years, Emma Scott has today revealed details of her new globally syndicated radio show.

The Pluggin Baby Radio Show is being offered as a 2-hour weekly programme to stations all over the world and features the most exciting independent talent from her radio plugging business, Pluggin Baby, which she has been running since 2013.

The show, which will be pre-recorded in her own Cambridgeshire home studio will also play established bands who have fired up Emma’s musical passion since she started her radio career back in 1988.

In 1973 joined the original team at Radio Clyde 261 as a evening producer then as a presenter of the Saturday Breakfast Show and Visiting time on a Sunday with a audience of 360,000 listeners.

In 1985 founded an entertainment Agency and Event company then in 1990 a Wholesale distribution company.

Retiring in 2012 I returned to Hospital Radio and built a home studio to produce and syndicate programmes including “ Lets Get Together” which is a spotlight on an artist or group each week playing 15 of their popular songs and including a biographical look at their career.

In 2018 applied and successfully received a licence from Ofcom to set up a Community Radio station.

I still present a weekly show on Hospital Radio in Glasgow and daily shows on Paisley FM in Paisley.

I also run a Training Academy to provide young people with the SQA level 5 course in Radio broadcasting as part of further achievement courses in schools

Titus Jennings – a child of the 60s and of suburban London, though now a resident of South Wales - has been involved in radio and the music industry, in one form or another, for most of his working life.

He's been waffling away and playing his always-eclectic blend of music since the late 70s on stations such as London Hospitals Broadcasting, Kingston Hospital Radio and University Radio Bath. In the 90s and 00s he presented the Breakfast Shows on Bath’s Torch FM and Bristol's Caroline Rocks, and has been working as a presenter / producer & programme controller on a number of internet-based stations since 2005.

Titus managed a couple of Bristol record stores in the late 80s, was a Pinnacle Records sales rep for a decade, and has also written CD, DVD and book reviews for Record Collector and other publications. Jeff started taking a real interest in music from an early age. He developed an interest in DJing when his brother teamed up with a friend and used to do the clubs and pubs in the mid-70s. Jeff Bressler serves as the host of the Make Believe Ballroom. The show plays all the great swing, jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie music from the big bad era of the 1930s and 1940s.

The Make Believe Ballroom was first broadcast in New York City in 1935 and has been on the air continuously since then, with few exceptions.

Jeff has hosted the show for the past twelve years. The program is the most listened-to program in the US and UK, featuring classic big band music. The ballroom is broadcast on Public, Community, and University radio stations as well as internet outlets across the globe.

I’m Fi Shoop and I’ve been on the radio off and on for over a decade but no one was ever brave enough to trust me with a playlist before. One of the things I love about this station is that we can choose whatever music we like. There is no set playlist which means I get to showcase new talent or play lesser-known tracks by established musicians.

The way I work is that every track except for the main album, One to Watch spot and my last song are all related to topics. My favourite link was Garth Brooks’ Beer Run when talking about the Lewes Beer Festival – and people think we just choose music because we like it! The last song is always my goodbye for the evening and has that word in the title or lyrics. It’s a good way to end the show and that’s also when the kettle goes on.

I have a set format for the show which varies slightly on busier weeks. One set of five tips has been quietly taken out of the running order for at least five shows so far – great shame as I have the best Stereophonics track to go with it! The tips are a time factor movable feature but the rest stands – news, songs, topics, reviews, drink-album match, big topic of the week, One to Watch and my sign off, followed by a goodbye track. I play 9-10 songs every week and you’re always welcome to get in touch and ask what they are if you missed the title. I make a point of announcing the tracks before and after playing them, just in case you walk into the room halfway through. It’s happened to me enough times when listening to the radio that I’ve made sure always to repeat myself so no one misses out.

I’m a complete newshound and even missed my magazine column deadline this week after being hooked on Brexit (sorry, editor!). I make notes for the show all week so I don’t forget any news stories or topics that I want to raise – whether that’s Twitter trolling (you can speak to me there on @FiShoop but no trolling, please!), knowing when to quit your job or gig etiquette. On a normal week, the news for the week takes about 2 minutes. During Brexit, it took much longer but I try to address it in such a way that anyone not interested in current affairs or politics doesn’t feel left out and so everyone enjoys the show.

It’s not always an easy balance and I turn some stories into topics so they become discussion pieces, not dry rundowns of facts. I still can’t believe people paid £150 for a hamper of M&S snacks and a poncho for the Queen’s 90th birthday soggy picnic – almost but not quite news, better addressed as a discussion topic. I also love Trump Corner which is about the latest ‘I can’t believe he said/did that’ moment from Donald Trump – radio gold but it feels more like a soap opera than real life.

My producer and I both dance to some of the tracks I play. I love guitar bands and driving rhythms so there are rocking moments every show. I mean literally rocking moments as the beat takes over and we can’t resist moving to it. I’ve never actually done that on any other show but the Cocktail Hour is that sort of programme. I hope you enjoy the music as much as I do.

Where do the drinks come in? Every week, when planning the show’s running order, I review drinks, then cocktail match the main album. As well as reviewing the album of choice and playing two tracks from it, I make a drink to enhance the listening process. Every song has to work with the cocktail or I have to start all over again. My record is seven cocktails. I was very relaxed after that! I usually get it right the first or second time – and that’s not nearly so fun but some albums just have obvious matches or a certain spirit works and you go from there. It’s hard work but huge fun.

And that’s what the Cocktail Hour is – no, not hard work but great fun. It’s news, views, reviews, drinks and the best music around.

I am a music lover and enthusiast, living in Little Rock, Arkansas. I got started in radio at the ripe ole age of 15. I stayed on Am & FM radio for around 8 years. Since inheriting his sister’s records when he was knee-high to a grasshopper in the 70’s, Chris knew broadcasting, music and communications was the life for him, and the more buttons, levers, switches, faders and general gadgets involved the better, with his first “DJ kit” being a Bush Cassette Recorder and a Bontempi Organ, for his 4th Birthday.

Starting with a modest collection of MFP and K-Tel compilations and a few Beatles 45s mostly more battered than your average cod, he’s never looked back. In the early days it was the joy of spending 85p for this week’s hot single from WH Smith, and still having 15p pocket money left for a small scoop of cola cubes.

The 80’s was Chris’s “Golden Age” of music. Chris showcases his perennial penchant for 70’s and 80’s music and it’s modern contemporaries on Solid Gold Sounds, where he is just as happy with forgotten 45’s as their well known air-play and chart counterparts, so expect an eclectic and original mix of both on the programme.

The show has regular features and occasional themed specials, so if you love that wonderful era too (even if you weren’t there..) - there’s a warm welcome for all to enjoy the classics and maybe even a few you missed ! Chris has been a Presenter and Audio Engineer with the East Shropshire Talking Newspaper For The Blind, for the last 32 years, and a radio veteran; having started out with involvement in Community Radio in the 90’s - his last station residency being a very happy 11 month stint at Revenge FM.

I have been interested in music for as long as I can remember, collecting vinyl over the years to the point that storage became a problem! I ran my own business for 20 years and then moved to live in Lanzarote in 2022. After moving to Lanzarote I volunteered as a presenter on a local community station here in Lanzarote and that is where The Time Of Our Music Life was "born.

Originally from the North East of England I was born and brought up in Stockton on Tees. The radio is always on wherever I am and I love any chart music from 1960 to (almost) the present day. Lockdown brought a lot of sad times, but also brought a lot of us all closer together. Many moons ago when I was a lot younger I used to work with a man that did mobile disco's. Did that for many years then got into the pub and club circuit. However after getting married the years slipped by I did not carry on with this hobby for many years. Then we had LOCKDOWN so I started doing sets online, instagram & facebook etc which rekindled my passion. I then got in touch with my old boss who runs a local community radio station. After a few beers I sweet talked him into a regular show.

Then came along another station - Where I now do a regular show "That & 80's & 90's Show". So as you can guess things have taken off very well so I have put together "That 90's & 00's Show" now broadcasting on numerous radio stations around the world.

The show, which will be pre-recorded in her own Cambridgeshire home studio will also play established bands who have fired up Emma’s musical passion since she started her radio career back in 1988.

Acoustic sets and interviews with familiar artists and classic tracks, as well as introductions to fresh new bands should keep ears and the imagination fired up with its weekly offering. The show is currently rattling in the blocks with already over 30 stations worldwide embracing the excitement of hosting its celebration. “The more the merrier” says Emma with a broad mischievous grin.

As Emma shines the spotlight on her favourite artists and encounters from over the years; exhilarating new sounds will lie seamlessly side by side with the likes of “Shinedown, Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, Green Day, Paramore, Stereophonics, Jimmy Eat World, Placebo, and of course Muse!”, the latter a band openly beloved by the lady herself.

I live in London, UK and am a lifelong musician having picked up the guitar at 12 years old. I love all types of music and have played in many different types of bands from blues to dance to jazz to folk. Still playing in bands and love every minute of it. However, my love of all music comes across in my show in the ‘Joker in the Pack’ slot where I play a song that is not necessarily Blues but one I really love. Next up was the legendary album-rocker, “The Zoo” in Dallas, where he was program director and had the #1 rated midday show. He’s interviewed dozens of musical icons and lists Joan Baez, Steve Miller, Nancy Wilson, Keith Reed, Willie Nelson, Don Mclean, Roger McGuinn, and Michael Brewer as some of his favorites. Other stops included Q-102, KZPS, KOAI, KRBE and KXCC in Texas, and the ABC Radio Classic Rock Network, where he was the top-rated jock. Ken’s also been an attorney, actor, and improv comedian and instructor.

MJ grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, addicted to the heritage album rocker, KSHE-95. Her extensive knowledge of rock and roll as well as her talent as an artist gave her incredible backstage access to all the early icons of album rock, including Cat Stevens, Alvin Lee, Jon Anderson, Donovan, Randy California, Elton John, and Ian Anderson. Her beautiful, mind-blowing posters graced the dressing room doors of all the greats.

In 1973 joined the original team at Radio Clyde 261 as a evening producer then as a presenter of the Saturday Breakfast Show and Visiting time on a Sunday with a audience of 360,000 listeners.

In 1985 founded an entertainment Agency and Event company then in 1990 a Wholesale distribution company.

Retiring in 2012 I returned to Hospital Radio and built a home studio to produce and syndicate programmes including “ Lets Get Together” which is a spotlight on an artist or group each week playing 15 of their popular songs and including a biographical look at their career.

In 2018 applied and successfully received a licence from Ofcom to set up a Community Radio station.

I still present a weekly show on Hospital Radio in Glasgow and daily shows on Paisley FM in Paisley.

I also run a Training Academy to provide young people with the SQA level 5 course in Radio broadcasting as part of further achievement courses in schools

Titus Jennings – a child of the 60s and of suburban London, though now a resident of South Wales - has been involved in radio and the music industry, in one form or another, for most of his working life.

He's been waffling away and playing his always-eclectic blend of music since the late 70s on stations such as London Hospitals Broadcasting, Kingston Hospital Radio and University Radio Bath. In the 90s and 00s he presented the Breakfast Shows on Bath’s Torch FM and Bristol's Caroline Rocks, and has been working as a presenter / producer & programme controller on a number of internet-based stations since 2005.

Titus managed a couple of Bristol record stores in the late 80s, was a Pinnacle Records sales rep for a decade, and has also written CD, DVD and book reviews for Record Collector and other publications. Jeff started taking a real interest in music from an early age. He developed an interest in DJing when his brother teamed up with a friend and used to do the clubs and pubs in the mid-70s. Fast-forward 40-odd years, and having been an avid listener to an online station for a few years, approached the owner about doing a one-off New Years Day special, for 2019/2020. It was well-received, and as a result he was offered a weekly slot. The rest as they say is history. He now presents for several stations. Jeff Bressler serves as the host of the Make Believe Ballroom. The show plays all the great swing, jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie music from the big bad era of the 1930s and 1940s.

The Make Believe Ballroom was first broadcast in New York City in 1935 and has been on the air continuously since then, with few exceptions.

Jeff has hosted the show for the past twelve years. The program is the most listened-to program in the US and UK, featuring classic big band music. The ballroom is broadcast on Public, Community, and University radio stations as well as internet outlets across the globe.

I’m Fi Shoop and I’ve been on the radio off and on for over a decade but no one was ever brave enough to trust me with a playlist before. One of the things I love about this station is that we can choose whatever music we like. There is no set playlist which means I get to showcase new talent or play lesser-known tracks by established musicians.

The way I work is that every track except for the main album, One to Watch spot and my last song are all related to topics. My favourite link was Garth Brooks’ Beer Run when talking about the Lewes Beer Festival – and people think we just choose music because we like it! The last song is always my goodbye for the evening and has that word in the title or lyrics. It’s a good way to end the show and that’s also when the kettle goes on.

I have a set format for the show which varies slightly on busier weeks. One set of five tips has been quietly taken out of the running order for at least five shows so far – great shame as I have the best Stereophonics track to go with it! The tips are a time factor movable feature but the rest stands – news, songs, topics, reviews, drink-album match, big topic of the week, One to Watch and my sign off, followed by a goodbye track. I play 9-10 songs every week and you’re always welcome to get in touch and ask what they are if you missed the title. I make a point of announcing the tracks before and after playing them, just in case you walk into the room halfway through. It’s happened to me enough times when listening to the radio that I’ve made sure always to repeat myself so no one misses out.

I’m a complete newshound and even missed my magazine column deadline this week after being hooked on Brexit (sorry, editor!). I make notes for the show all week so I don’t forget any news stories or topics that I want to raise – whether that’s Twitter trolling (you can speak to me there on @FiShoop but no trolling, please!), knowing when to quit your job or gig etiquette. On a normal week, the news for the week takes about 2 minutes. During Brexit, it took much longer but I try to address it in such a way that anyone not interested in current affairs or politics doesn’t feel left out and so everyone enjoys the show.

It’s not always an easy balance and I turn some stories into topics so they become discussion pieces, not dry rundowns of facts. I still can’t believe people paid £150 for a hamper of M&S snacks and a poncho for the Queen’s 90th birthday soggy picnic – almost but not quite news, better addressed as a discussion topic. I also love Trump Corner which is about the latest ‘I can’t believe he said/did that’ moment from Donald Trump – radio gold but it feels more like a soap opera than real life.

My producer and I both dance to some of the tracks I play. I love guitar bands and driving rhythms so there are rocking moments every show. I mean literally rocking moments as the beat takes over and we can’t resist moving to it. I’ve never actually done that on any other show but the Cocktail Hour is that sort of programme. I hope you enjoy the music as much as I do.

Where do the drinks come in? Every week, when planning the show’s running order, I review drinks, then cocktail match the main album. As well as reviewing the album of choice and playing two tracks from it, I make a drink to enhance the listening process. Every song has to work with the cocktail or I have to start all over again. My record is seven cocktails. I was very relaxed after that! I usually get it right the first or second time – and that’s not nearly so fun but some albums just have obvious matches or a certain spirit works and you go from there. It’s hard work but huge fun.

And that’s what the Cocktail Hour is – no, not hard work but great fun. It’s news, views, reviews, drinks and the best music around.

A while ago, I decided to try my hand at producing a syndicated radio show from home, to be made freely available, each week, to hospital and community radio stations.

I am a music lover and enthusiast, living in Little Rock, Arkansas. I got started in radio at the ripe ole age of 15. I stayed on Am & FM radio for around 8 years. I had to get a real job and stayed out of radio for over 20 years. I never loss the fever for being on air, so I returned to radio on internet radio in 2015. Since inheriting his sister’s records when he was knee-high to a grasshopper in the 70’s, Chris knew broadcasting, music and communications was the life for him, and the more buttons, levers, switches, faders and general gadgets involved the better, with his first “DJ kit” being a Bush Cassette Recorder and a Bontempi Organ, for his 4th Birthday.

Starting with a modest collection of MFP and K-Tel compilations and a few Beatles 45s mostly more battered than your average cod, he’s never looked back. In the early days it was the joy of spending 85p for this week’s hot single from WH Smith, and still having 15p pocket money left for a small scoop of cola cubes.

The 80’s was Chris’s “Golden Age” of music. Chris showcases his perennial penchant for 70’s and 80’s music and it’s modern contemporaries on Solid Gold Sounds, where he is just as happy with forgotten 45’s as their well known air-play and chart counterparts, so expect an eclectic and original mix of both on the programme.

The show has regular features and occasional themed specials, so if you love that wonderful era too (even if you weren’t there..) - there’s a warm welcome for all to enjoy the classics and maybe even a few you missed ! (“Relax” T-Shirt, flairs, platform shoes, space hopper, and rubik's cube all entirely optional !)

Chris has been a Presenter and Audio Engineer with the East Shropshire Talking Newspaper For The Blind, for the last 32 years, and a radio veteran; having started out with involvement in Community Radio in the 90’s - his last station residency being a very happy 11 month stint at Revenge FM.

Chris is married to a published author, and when not busy editing her latest novel, he enjoys landscape photography, and can often be found alongside the dustiest box of vinyl in any remaining record shops, hoping to unearth a hidden gem, or failing that, at the nearest purveyors of unhealthy food !

I bought my first single in 1969....."Sugar Sugar" by The Archies!!! I continued collecting rather a cross section of music until my best friend bought me "Burn" by Deep Purple for my eighteen birthday!! That was it....I became a life long "rocker" from then on!!

So my first love is ROCK, as is my second & third love.....although The Carpenters are my guilty pleasure!!

My love of Radio has been going for more years than I care to remember.....25+ years with Sunshine Radio on the Isle of Wight & a stint on internet radio with Vectis Radio for eight years, then I seemed to get offers to broadcast my shows all over the place! A final thought....If someone had told me in 1969 not to collect the 6000 plus albums I collected over the decades because you'd be able to access them & more on a mobile phone that fits in the palm of your hand I'd have never have believed it!!! Mind, I did enjoy collecting them!!!

I have been interested in music for as long as I can remember, collecting vinyl over the years to the point that storage became a problem! I ran my own business for 20 years and then moved to live in Lanzarote in 2022. After moving to Lanzarote I volunteered as a presenter on a local community station here in Lanzarote and that is where The Time Of Our Music Life was "born.

Originally from the North East of England I was born and brought up in Stockton on Tees. The radio is always on wherever I am and I love any chart music from 1960 to (almost) the present day. The first record I ever bought was Esther & Abi Ofarim / Cinderella Rockefella, but please don't hold that against me!

Lockdown brought a lot of sad times, but also brought a lot of us all closer together. Many moons ago when I was a lot younger I used to work with a man that did mobile disco's. So as you do when you are young, I popped along and was hooked straight away. So I jumped onto the bandwagon and got involved hands on, how all the gear worked etc etc

Did that for many years then got into the pub and club circuit. However after getting married the years slipped by I did not carry on with this hobby for many years. Then we had LOCKDOWN so I started doing sets online, instagram & facebook etc which rekindled my passion. I then got in touch with my old boss who runs a local community radio station. After a few beers I sweet talked him into a regular show.

Then came along another station - Where I now do a regular show "That & 80's & 90's Show". So as you can guess things have taken off very well so I have put together "That 90's & 00's Show" now broadcasting on numerous radio stations around the world.

Dave Edwards has been associated with the world of Radio Broadcasting for over 40 years, having started as many do, in Hospital Radio. He was one of the driving forces behind the formation of The Loughborogh Hospitals Broacasting Service (LHBS) back in 1975.

In fact Dave was the Station Manager for several years.

He was also associated with Radio Fox, in his home city of Leicester, in the early 1990's. He produced and presented the Sunday Breakfast Show.

Over the years, Dave has worked for both Commercial and Publicly funded radio stations both here in the UK, as well world-wide.

He spent some time broadcasting in the USA, Canada, and Indonesia.
